THE EXPRESSIVE FIGURE

Year 9 - Year 9s have been learning about proportion and the human form recently. We have used wooden mannequins to create dynamic poses and lamps as a light source to help project dramatic contrast onto their figures. Students were to show skills using 3 different mediums - firstly, high-quality colour pencil rendering, oil pastels and finally, acrylic paint. Lessons on each of these media helped to support the students in building up their knowledge and confidence before applying it to their artwork. Students also learned a lot about colour theory, especially looking at split-complementary and triadic colour schemes. I loved these outcomes, full of life and a rainbow of colours!
